There are about 35 species in the cat family and occupy all the continents except australasia and antarctica. For me the the margay is the most beautiful of all spotted cats and they live in the forests of central and South America. Margays are nocturnal cats and spend most of their time in trees and like the clouded leopard can walk upside down along branches and are expert climbers. The Margay is slightly smaller than an Ocelot however the Margay has much larger eyes and ears, a shorter body and longer tail and legs. Margays will leap from a tree directly down onto its prey of small mammals and birds. Margays like Ocelot are highly endangered because of their beautiful fur.
